Hi guys
So last week was the first performance of ‘One More Lie (Standing In The Shadows)’! It was at an event for Tesco, raising money for the amazing Nordoff Robbins music charity. The whole event was in honour of the rugby player Joe Worsley as he is retiring from rugby, so I got to meet him and also the legendary Victor Ubogu (you might have seen my pictures on Twitter!) I spent the first few days of the week listening to the song 24/7 to make sure I could remember the lyrics – it’s weird, even though you’ve sung the song a thousand times, you don’t necessarily know it as well as you think you do!! We also did ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’, which was really cool to perform.
Also, as you know the video was premiered on the Sun website, and it was interesting to see people’s comments. I’d shown the video to a few people and they loved it, but when you put it out on a neutral site you actually get to see what everyone really thinks, and it’s hard a really good, positive response so I was very happy with that. The record is starting to get played on a lot of radio stations too now. It went onto the One Xtra B-list last week, which is amazing for seven weeks up-front. It’s always so positive when you see your music getting played early and people wanting to add it to their playlists, so that’s all cool. Thanks to everyone who has been requesting the track on their local stations, it really makes such a difference!
Other than that I’ve just been getting back into the groove of things. I thought I was going to have crazy jetlag, but I’ve actually done pretty well. I’ve been getting back into running, going around the park with my trainer and friend Faisal. I find that in this kind of weather you either stay indoors and get warm and start eating junk food or you just get your trainers and your woolly hat on, get out in the cold and get involved, you know, and that’s pretty much where I’ve been at.
I’ve been meaning to go and see Avatar too. There’s so much hype surrounding it, and usually I just think I’ll wait for it to come out on DVD, but because it’s 3D I think it’s got to be seen at the cinema really. The one I go to is great, they have a Sainsbury’s downstairs so I stock up on loads of grapes and apples and stuff before I go in. Or alternatively if you’re not feeling quite so healthy you can just use the Sainsbury’s bag to hide your Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket in!
Catch you soon
